At the Trecom Group, our work is guided by three principles: Creation, Security, Development. In line with these principles, when creating our products, we focus on our customers’ current needs while keeping an eye on the future. Our perspective is broad and focused on the long term. We are aware of the multidimensional impact that the development of the digital economy has on our environment and our society. We see it every day in our homes, in our communities, and in the media. Therefore, as responsible citizens, we support the transition to a sustainable economy though our carefully considered actions and decisions. As designers and distributors of information systems  we can help our customers’ businesses become more energy-efficient and less carbon-intensive by creating tools and services that respect the environment.

With our intimate understanding of the technology sector and analysis of its environmental impacts, we at the Trecom Group focus our activities on three main areas: energy efficiency, e-waste management, and the use of technology in harmony with the environment.

Our activities are in line with the UN’s 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. This is a commitment made by the 193 member states to take action to achieve the 17 Sustainable Development Goals. They aim to ensure peace, economic progress, and a decent life for all, while protecting the environment and combating climate change.

Below we present our sustainability goals and the actions we are taking as a group…
…to make our IT green.

CLIMATE
ACTION

by:
  1. reducing gas emissions
Achieve net zero emissions for Scopes 1 and 2 by 2040.
    Achieve climate neutrality by 2040.
    Reduce CO2 emissions by 60% by 2040.

How:

  • Increase the use of renewable energy by 60%
  • Work with contractors that meet ESG goals and have implemented solutions to reduce greenhouse gas emissions
  • Reduce business travel by air and road in favor of rail and online meetings
  • Adapt infrastructure at company headquarters to favor environmentally friendly commuting: bicycle, scooter, public transportation
  1. reducing energy consumption

How:

  • Create and search for innovative solutions:
    • Use virtualization solutions (creating an entire virtual infrastructure), allowing us to reduce the number of machines and servers we need, reducing cooling needs and therefore energy consumption
    • Cooling – work with partners offering alternative technologies such as liquid cooling, in-server cooling, or new high-density servers using hydrogen cells as a green energy source
  • Apply ‘Green Coding’ (‘Green Software Engineering’) principles in our work; using codes and algorithms requiring less computing power, selecting/creating less energy-intensive applications, re-using code, using AI for data analysis,
  • Educate Employees on digital hygiene
  1. implement the ISO 14001 environmental standard by 2050, which aims to reduce the organization’s negative impact on the environment to the greatest possible extent.

RESPONSIBLE PRODUCTION
AND CONSUMPTION

by:
  1. Applying the ‘3R’ principle – Reduce, Reuse, Recycle:

How:

  • Reduce electronic waste by working with equipment manufacturers who reuse equipment (declared product return rate: 100%)
  • Use refurbished equipment (increase in procurement: 5% by 2030)
  • Select contractors that also take an eco-friendly approach to product packaging: using eco-friendly, recyclable materials, optimizing packaging
  • Proper and environmentally safe disposal of electronic equipment in cooperation with a specialized company
  • Digital workflow management and reduced paper consumption
  • Reduce plastic consumption by Trecom Group employees in favor of reusable materials: glass, reusable containers,
  • Sort and recycle waste at company offices
